In 2026, adrenaline-seeking theme park guests will be able to ride “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift,” Universal Studios Hollywood’s newest theme park offering and the fastest roller coaster in the Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio. It is being meticulously constructed with sound-reduction technology and additional considerations to minimize sound impacts in the community. Recently, park guests enjoyed a sneak peek at one of the ride vehicles, modeled after the cars in the hit film, for the first time.

Community Considerations

low RUMBLE TRACK - The entire track will be filled with pea gravel which is designed to minimize ride vehicle sound.

SOUND WALL - A series of sound walls will be built, comprised of sound-absorbing material, which will expand over 900 feet in length on the property near the ride track.

HALF-PIPE SHIELDS - Two half-pipe shields will be constructed adjacent to the easternmost and westernmost loops of the elevated ride track, intended to shield sound at the source.

RIDE VEHICLE - The entire track will be filled with pea gravel which is designed to minimize ride vehicle sound.

ONGOING SOUND MONITORING - The ride vehicle design will allow for 360-degree rotation to direct screams away from the community.

CONSTRUCTION HOURS - Construction of the coaster is limited to 7am – 7pm weekdays, and 8am – 6pm Saturdays. Regular updates will be provided on the Community Line website throughout the process. Exceptions are occasionally authorized for safety reasons.
